Olivia's Story

On December 11, 2009, during a routine ultrasound, my husband and I were told that our precious baby had anencephaly. Anencephaly is a fatal nueral tube defect with a 0% survival rate. We were told we had two options, we could continue the pregnancy or terminate immediately.

We made the life changing decision to continue the pregnancy and cherish the time we had with our little girl. Olivia has changed us and blessed us in ways that we would have never imagined. I will never regret the 34 weeks I carried her and watched and felt her grow inside of me. I am so thankful that I chose to carry her, she was given the chance to live her life to its full potential. She was given the opportunity to die with diginity.

Olivia Ryan was born on May 12, 2010. She weighed 3 lbs 3 oz and was 15 inches long. She never took a breath but she stayed with us 58 glorious minutes.
